The Lynmore singers meet on a Tuesday evening at The Space.
The choir that became The Lynmore Singers was formed in 1951 by Pat and Eddie Davison and based at the Enfield Cable and Rolling Mills Club as a works choir. In those days’ members rode their bikes to rehearsals! For many years, the choir came under the auspices of the Enfield Co-operative Educational Department and then Enfield Further Education Service. In 1985 the choir became independent and has met to rehearse at St. John’s Church Hall/The Space in Enfield since then. Pat continued to lead the choir after the death of her husband in 1965. She retired in 1998 after 47 years of dedicated service. The Lynmore Singers celebrated their 60th anniversary with a concert at St George’s Church Freezywater in 2011.
After a successful series of Christmas performances in 2019, which included their Christmas concert at Old Barn Ridings, Theobalds and carol singing at Broxbourne Station, they raised £1,900 for SERV Herts & Beds Bloodrunners. In 2018 they raised over £2,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
Before lockdown they were back rehearsing and preparing for their spring concert with Codetta Brass at Hoddesdon Parish Church on Saturday 28 March 2020 which unfortunately had to be cancelled. They were also planning to sing for the George Fuller Club for the blind and partially sighted in Hoddesdon on Monday 16 March and Goffs Oak WI on 13 May 2020.
