There are plans to replace the existing Methodist Church building with a brand-new purpose-built intergenerational neighbourhood centre building. This new building will enable the existing groups and activities to continue as well as providing space for new activities to take place.
This building is currently in the planning and design process, preparing to start the building process after gaining planning permission in Spring 2020. This new building has been designed by IfDo who are architects based in London. To find out more information about them and the other projects they are involved in you can check out their website here: https://www.ifdo.co/
The design allows for the current building to remain in place during construction, which enables the existing activities and groups to continue without interruption and then move without interruption from the old building into the brand new one.
The new building provides approximately 650 sqm of usable space over two floors. This will include a dedicated space of the preschool, meeting rooms, office space, a kitchen, a prayer space, a café area and a large hall. This will give more flexibility than in the current building enabling multiple groups and activities to happen at the same time.
